RE-OPENING MY OFFICE! (Message sent to all clients at the end of June, 2020)
HELLO EVERYONE!
I sincerely hope everyone is healthy and well. This is just an update to let you know that my office will be reopening next week starting on Sunday, June 28th. YAY!!! I am so excited. Keeping my fingers crossed for no changes to that... and a smooth sailing summer.
Currently, I will be allowing only one client on weekdays (Tues, Thurs or Fridays - my office is available every other Friday)... and only 2-3 clients on Saturdays (every other) or Sundays (every Sunday) with a ONE HOUR gap in between clients for cleaning and disinfecting time.
If you happen to book on a weekend and there is not a one hour gap in between you and the next client, I may have to contact you to push your appointment time up earlier or push it back later. I'm going to try and set my calendar up to automatically adjust the one hour gap for me.... but I haven't tried it yet. Also, if more than two or three people book all at the same time on or for the same day before I am able to block off any additional available time on my calendar (HIGHLY unlikely).. .but it could happen... I may have to call and reschedule you.
There are a few MASS State regulated guidelines that myself and my clients will have to follow. Contact tracing is in effect and I would appreciate it if everyone just left their phones in their cars while they are at my office. My phone will also stay in my car. I am not in complete agreement with the tracing nor how it is being done. I am foreseeing this to cause further financial damage for many, many businesses based on "false positives" and the over emphasis by the media to push more and more fear-based thinking.
All clients will have to sign a client waiver form with COVID updates for every visit from now on. In addition, there are new COVID questions that must be asked at each visit... and I will also be asking two additional questions on top of those questions that are already mandated (which are the last two) for my own extra precautions. Here are the five questions.
1. Have you had a fever in the last 24 hours of 100 or above?
2. Do you now or have you recently had any respiratory or flu-like symptoms, sore throat or shortness of breath?
3. Have you been in contact with anyone in the last 14 days who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or has coronavirus-type symptoms?
4. Have you had a recent COVID-19 swab test within the last 2-3 weeks?
5. Have you had a vaccine in the last 30 days?
If the answer is yes to any of these questions, I will ask that you reschedule for cautionary purposes. I can explain my thoughts and feelings on the last two questions when you come in for your appointment, if you are curious to know.
OFFICE CHANGES ********************************* Upon arrival to the office, please be wearing your mask. I will also be wearing mine and look like I am about to preform surgery on you! (That's a joke... but I'm serious.) You must stand in front of the mat outside the office at the temperature / sanitation station (see image below). Your COVID intake (the asking of those 5 questions again... the actual massage intake will be taken privately in the treatment room), along with a temperature check (and logged) and hand sanitation will take place before you enter the office. Upon entering, we will go straight into my treatment room, which has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before your arrival. I would like to remind everyone.... I am a single practice office, so you don't have to worry about heavy traffic at my office. It doesn't happen.
You will notice the chair and massage table in my treatment room now have a vinyl / plastic covering. You will see it on the chair... and you will feel and hear it when you get on the table. All sheets, blankets, face cradle covers, pillow cases and towels are clean and fresh. All surfaces and doorknobs are sanitized before you arrive. All linens from any previous client(s) will be kept in a sealed trash bag inside my laundry bag and kept in the waiting room.
You must wear a mask during the massage while face up per guidelines. Facial massages are not supposed to be part of the massage anymore. However, if you have TMJ / jaw pain, please let me know and we can discuss. When I turn you over, I have a long pillowcase catch that can take the place of wearing the mask while face down. If this becomes uncomfortable for you or you are having a hard time breathing with it, please let me know and we can discuss.
Because I am leaving a full hour in between each client... I will still be offering HOT STONES because I will have the time to clean and sanitize the stones and my crock pot between clients. I will also still be offering body brushing (for 2 hr massages only) because I can vacuum and spray sanitize the rug between clients also.
I am not concerned about "contact-less" payments... nor am I afraid of cash. My tablet and credit card hub will be cleaned and sanitized after each client's use.
If you have any questions or concerns that I have not outlined here, you are more than welcome to contact me to discuss.
If you have a gift certificate... please, please PLEASE try to use that and get in to see me BEFORE September. The sooner... the better, actually! I have a feeling we are going to have a repeat of all of this again in the Fall.
Hope to hear from many of you soon! I don't know about you... but I am really missing getting massages... Can't wait to get one myself!
See you soon!
UPDATE: March 24, 2020 To be on the safe side, my office will closed until April 7th. Any current bookings will be contacted to reschedule. Stay safe and healthy everyone!
Helping you stay healthy is my business. But I do realize this a a very concerning time for all of us. Because of that, I would like to give an update regarding my massage office status.
Currently, (for now) I am still open. I will stay open until the state of Massachusetts shuts private offices down completely. I am using an example guideline from Washington State, please see below. As you can see... at least in Washington.... Massage Therapy is one area that is allowed to support the community. I believe that is because we only see one person at a time.. In my office, I only see 1-2 people... .maybe 2-3 days out of the week... if I am lucky.. Some weeks I only have one client for the entire week. This is how it is at the moment because I am still a very new private office in the area. Not too many people in Foxboro know I am even there.
Symptoms To Look Out For
If I come down with any of these symptoms below, I will cancel all upcoming appointments for the next month or more. Aside from known allergies, please cancel your appointment as soon as possible if you have any of the symptoms below.
Steps I Am Taking To Insure a Sterile Environment
Clients... I will only be seeing a maximum of up to two clients per day. My office will NOT be open every day of the week.. I still only work nights (but not every night) and weekends out of my office
Hand washing.... My hands are washed and Purelled (hand sanitized) before and after every client... and also when I wash my hot stones.
Sanitation / Disinfecting..... Clorox wipes are used in the office to wipe down all doors, door handles, arm chairs, and furniture surfaces. As always, I also wash and spray my tools used with alcohol after each massage.
Linens... Linens (cradle cover, sheets and towels) are clean and changed after each client. The top blanket will now also be changed after each client and washed daily. Clients are also welcome to bring their own twin size bottom and top sheet.... and/or top blanket if they would like that option instead.
Masks... If the client would like both parties to wear a mask... I can make that happen too. (Providing I don't run out of masks! God knows you can't find anything in the stores with all this panicking going on.)
Remember The Stress Response
We all know stress suppresses the immune system and can be a real killer. The simple act of receiving care dials down the stress response, allowing for the part of your nervous system (parasympathetic) to elicit a balance in heart rate, tissue repair, ease of digestion, reduces mental fatigue and it calms the entire nervous system overall (just to name a few). This results in the ability for your body to boost your immune response to pathogens, heal and repair the body.
The act of giving to those willing to receive mirrors the same health benefits back to me. I receive gifts of health associated with the action of purpose and the joy that I feel knowing that I am helping someone feel better, reduce their stress and heal.
