My name is Kehrey Anne Dean, and I am the founder of Peace Positive™. I'm a 53 yr old mom of three - two boys and one girl - and a grandmother to three. I was born in Taunton, Massachusetts, but have lived in Rhode Island for most all of my life. I currently live in North Smithfield, Rhode Island.
In early 2014, I began creating Peace Positive™ after going through two of the hardest years of my life, During those two years, the peace sign (right-side UP) helped me to keep my thoughts and goals on the bright side of life and focused on creating more joy and happiness within my own life.
In 2012, I discovered the peace sign turned right-side UP through Turn Peace Around, which is operated by Connie (Sunfire) Hill in the state of WA. At the time, it struck me as such a powerful and POSITIVE sign for joy, self-love, celebration of life and self-empowerment. So much so, that I started to dig a little deeper into the history of the peace sign, and searched for others who could feel the difference and who also felt it was the TRUE sign for peace... individual peace, that is. I just knew I had to get involved and help promote this movement... and thus, a mission for the second half of my life was born.
Since then, I've discovered more people promoting the movement also! Such as:
For me, the symbol helps me to keep my thoughts and feelings on the positive side. It is so easy to get lost in negative thinking and sucked into depression. I know because I've been there! And actually, to be honest, I still struggle with it daily. Depression can sometimes be an overwhelming situation, and the mental and physical sources of our depression can be extremely difficult to handle and deal with on a daily basis. The difference for me is... now I have a tool to help remind me to focus my mind on the positive side of life. In a world that seems crazy and upside-down at times, it's a tool that helps me to focus my thoughts and actions on creating peace, contentment, joy and happiness within my own life.... and also stand in my beliefs and share what I feel to be TRUTH.
Looking at the peace sign "right-side UP" it is seen as the tree of life. It can also be viewed as the symbol of a human being with arms stretched up and outward in a state of joy and celebration. It is a POSITIVE sign that empowers everyone to remember that life is a journey meant to be embraced and cherished with laughter, joy and adventure. Life is what WE make of it. If life has become sad, scary, depressing or something you don't like... all you have to do is use the power within yourself to make different CHOICES in order to change your life into something more positive, joyous and extraordinary for yourself.
For me, Peace Positive is about raising self love within yourself and being aware of self care. Its about increasing our self worth, self esteem and self confidence. Loving ourselves the way we know we should be loved. Understanding deep within that each one of us is a unique and beautiful being! A one-of-a-kind... there is no one else on the planet quite like YOU. Realizing that no one can love or care for ourselves more or better than the way WE can love and take care of ourselves. No one can make your life more positive or joyful than YOU can. It's realizing it's all an "inside job"! It's about living consciously and using the power of your heart and mind to make better choices for yourself.
There is an old saying... "Love your neighbor as you love yourself!" But how can you truly and honestly love your neighbor as you love yourself... if you don't really love yourself in the first place? Loving yourself is the most important and most difficult lesson in life. Look in the mirror and say, "I Love You (your name)!" Now notice how you feel inside. If something doesn't feel right... you have self love work to do. And if it does feel awkward... don't worry... you're not alone! Trust me... I know!
We are here to learn to love ourselves to the best of our ability. And in doing so, we become living, loving examples for others and that inner love naturally pours out onto others around us.
So if you find that you need something positive to hold on to... I suggest you keep a Peace Positive™ sign close-by. Place it everywhere and anywhere you can to remind yourself that you are a wonderful, unique, one-of-a-kind human being meant to love, smile, laugh, enjoy and embrace YOUR LIFE... with ALL it's ups and downs.
Focus on the positives in life... that's a choice we can all make!
